White Emotions & Antiracism
Antiracist activists of color have called for white people to connect with other whites, helping them join the movement in healthy and productive ways. However, we know little about how emotions play a role for whites and how we might help whites manage their emotions in ways that lead to sustained action. This research seeks to understand:
how emotions impact white people's involvement,
how some activists manage challenging emotions in order to stay involved, and
how movement organizations focused on engaging whites might better support them in staying active.
